Among the most prominent cultural products of Greek civilization, the Greek drama occupied a prominent position; Where it strongly affected the formation of artistic awareness of the various nations and left its mark on many human arts and literature. Therefore, Taha Hussein decided to translate a group of famous plays of the Greek writer "Sophocles", which is one of the most important and greatest writers of the Greek tragedy. This choice was aimed at attracting the Arab reader and participating in exploring great creativity in Western thought and knowing the tributaries of literary and artistic creativity in the rich heritage of Greek culture.
