Polymer Engineering Principles

Polymers and Plastics are successfully competing with traditional materials, such as glass, iron and steel. The mechanical engineer needs to know how to select a plastic, what the effects of processing will be on this plastic, how the plastic interacts with the environment and how it responds in various classical tests. The engineer also needs to know how plastics flow, how and why they orient, and how this affects final part performance; how long-term and short-term properties influence final part design.
