Francis of Assisi: His Legacy to Our World

The 50th Anniversary of St. Francis-in-the-Valley EC is the inspiration for this book. Francis of Assisi's life-changing encounter with Jesus in St. Damien's church when he was nineteen years old launched him on a life mission to help the poor and to restore churches. He renounced his inheritance, becoming the evangelical leader of the Friars Minor Order. In his twenty years as penitent leader he refused to build a church or a monastery, refused to receive money, preached to the poorest and the devastated earning sainthood as his followers grew to be the largest monastic order serving the Roman Catholic Church. We track the power of the Franciscan faith through the Renaissance and into today's world.
