Darkness and Rays

May Ziadeh presented numerous literary contributions throughout her intellectual journey; however, she devoted the greater part of her life to serving her fellow women. Her book "e;Zulumat wa Ashi'a"e; (Darkness and Rays) stands as one of the pioneering feminist works she offered in the first half of the twentieth century. The book is a collection of literary essays that Ziadeh delivered on various occasions and on diverse themes. In it, she gives particular attention to the issues of Eastern women, focusing on raising women's awareness of their societal rights such as the right to a dignified life and to freedom.
