California Then and Now – People and Places is a whole new take on Anova Books' best-selling trademark series.

Featuring images from across the state of California, from San Francisco in the north to San Diego in the south, it shows how much and how little has changed over 150 years. With a strong emphasis on the tourist locations of the state, there are large sections reserved for vintage photos of San Francisco, LA, Hollywood, Anaheim, Long Beach and San Diego. The hippy enclaves of Haight Ashbury are featured in glorious Ektachrome, as are the early rides of Disneyland from the 1950s. There are match-ups for the most famous sign in the world, Hollywood, plus forays into the famous surfing locations. Packaged in a smaller format than any other Then and Now, the text has been stripped back to small captions to allow the amazing collection of past and present photos to speak for themselves.
