Green Fields and Red Paddocks: The Leaving of England

One cold February day in 1959, 25-year-old Jane Trow set off on board the cruise ship Stratheden, bound for Adelaide in South Australia, adventure, and a whole new life. Little did Jane suspect that Fate would test her pioneering spirit to the absolute limit. Having found love aboard ship, Jane found herself as a young bride living on a sheep station in one of Western Australia's remotest areas - the East Murchison Goldfields - with her station-hand husband. Battling not only her homesickness and the cultural differences, but also some rather unfriendly locals - snakes, scorpions and the occasional outback identity - Jane was not discouraged, and soon showed the world just how resilient and adaptable she could be.
