Nine years after his first dog, Sapura, passed away, Rob bought a pair of Siberian Husky littermates, Dawn and Tenaya. With them, he transformed his life from being a Silicon Valley scientist to living as a musher in Montana's mountains. Driving in rush hour traffic changed to chipping ice out of his dogs' food bowls.Siberian Huskies aren't the best racing dogs, but their belligerence made them Rob's choice. Rob wanted interesting companions, and he got them. Rob moved to Montana in 2003, built his kennel, and learned how to mush dogs. Along the way, he experienced subzero runs under a full moon, watched helplessly as a moose killed his lead dog, and ran the first 370 miles of the 2009 Iditarod. Written with the style of James Herriot, Good Slow Dogs is Rob's story.
