Drug Overdoses & Alcohol Withdrawal

This book provides the latest research in substance abuse research. The first chapter evaluates psychotropic drug overdoses in forensic practices. Unintentional overdose deaths involving opioid pain relievers are discussed in the second chapter. In the next section, the prevalence, trends and management strategies for alcohol withdrawal are reviewed. The prolonged heavy drinking of alcohol (ethanol) often creates brain disorder alcoholism. In the third chapter, the authors explore alcohol withdrawal from the perspective of oxidative stress. Additionally, the authors discuss the epidemiology of alcohol withdrawal, the pathophysiology, and the diagnostic criteria for the various manifestations of alcohol withdrawal and management.
