This book documents the findings of Noel McGinn's Six Nation Education Research Project, a seven-year effort involving six countries (China, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland and the US) to show how collaborative research can help expand worldwide knowledge of education.McGinn believes that if countries replicate the 'best practices' of each other's educational systems, the resulting standardization will lead to a loss of opportunity for increasing the knowledge of what works in education. The research involved cross-cultural comparison on a variety of topics, including language instruction, educational indicators (testing results), reform of higher education management, secondary vocational education and determinations of school effectiveness.
