If I Should Die Before I Live

This isn't a very long book, because it's about life. And everyone knows life is short.God, of course, is not ';short.' He is eternal.And He is very wise.When He decided it was time for ';time' to begin, He divided life into bite sized piecesseconds and minutes, moments for livingAnd He strung them together in a line.When the line was sixty minutes long, He tied a knot and said, ';Enough. Sixty minutes are long enough for every hour.' And He began to measure again. Another sixty minutes; another hour; another knot.Twenty- four times God measured, and tied; and there was evening, and there was morning, before He stopped and called it a day. The Infinite Creator has set into motion a parade of days, each one filled with unexpected, unannounced events.Some days are filled with so much happiness and delight that we hope they will never end.But they do.Other days contain so much sorrow and brokenness that we think they will never end.But they do.Life passes through our hands, a day at a time. And God sees and knows each and every moment of it all.Job had an interesting question about that reality, in the Bible, when he asked, ';Since times are not hidden from the Almighty, why do those who know Him see not His days?' (Job 21:1)Good question. And so, a short little book about days. This is a book about making sense of those few, short days God has granted every living soul: Someday for dreaming. Any Day, for waiting. Every Day, for living. Yesterday, for remembering. Today, for now. Tomorrow, for sure? A Day of Rest, forever.
