Strategies for fostering critical thinking skills in Medical schools

Thinking and knowing are the two sides of the same coin and they cannot effectively exist independently. Especially in medicine, we need to consciously train doctors to be able to think and take appropriate decisions in patient care. Medical curriculum in India is in the process of a revolutionary change. It is evident that the curricular planners are are aware of the lacunae in the older curriculum are attempting to develope a curriculum that is inclusive of soft skills like ethics, professionalism, communicationa and critical thiking. This monograph attempts to understand the current medical curriculum & critical thinking as a skill, identify the gaps in the curriculum and explore the possibility of incorporating better evidence-based methods of teaching critical thinking.
