My Limitless Life - My Life in Words: Writing Curriculum for Jails and Prisons

My Life in Words is a writing-healing curriculum for individuals who are incarcerated or returning into society. The workbook guides a student inmate to uncover their personal life journey through a variety of writing exercises. The workbook may be instructor-led or could be used as a self-study guide. It was produced by a communications executive who has spent more than 15 years in corrections and who also volunteers as a teacher and mentor to women in prison and jail. The writing exercises help uncover areas in a student's life that may be in need of healing or acceptance, so the individual can gain a greater sense of emotional freedom. The workbook contains class writing assignments and group discussions as well as private-time writing assignments. Writing exercises include writing parts of the life story, poetry, dream collages and affirmative statements. My Life in Words may be taught in any correctional setting or halfway house environment.
