Volume 7 of the Collected Works of Roman Ingarden bears the title "On the Foundations of Epistemology" and consists of two part-volumes. The first of these contains Part 1 of Ingarden's "On the Foundations of Epistemology" (U podstaw teorii poznania) in the editor's German translation of the text prepared for print by Ingarden shortly before his death and published in Polish in 1971. The second part-volume assembles a number of related texts from the author's Nachlass. In sum the works brought together in these two part-volumes document Ingarden's unremitting endeavour to realize his own design for an autonomous system of epistemology taking its bearings from Husserl's phenomenology and setting itself apart from naturalist ('psycho-physiological') theories of knowledge."
