Writings of the 1870 war

The 19th century was disrupted by several socio-political events and crises, among which the 1870 war and its consequences had a lasting influence on political, social, economic and literary life in France. The war and the defeat of France are sometimes considered as the beginning of a crisis of French thought that will last until the Great War 14-18 whose impacts lead the world to the World War 1940-45. The warlike conflict of the second half of the 19th century was the beginning of a series of conflicts and insurrections that involved the whole world for several decades. Like all French people, literary people could not remain inert in the face of the war that ravaged the country.
