This book presents a reflection on post-modernity, its effects on the human personality and the need to rescue the dimension of the feeling of saudade as a possibility to overcome the growing emptiness that marks the present society. Through the reading, interpretation and connection of philosophical texts about life in the contemporary world, we will try to find space for a Portuguese philosophy that has focused on the study of longing, discovering in this feeling the ability to lead man to the knowledge of himself, of the other, of the reality around him and of the Absolute. Thus, only by looking at his history, valuing his lived experiences, will man be able to recognise the importance of alterity in the process of the formation of his identity.os
