The book contains some social articles, and in these articles and poems, Gibran reiterates his belief in the unity of existence and the transcendence of the soul and its constant longing or thirst for freedom from the shackles of the body that shackles it, to return to the source of its existence. Therefore, the Sufi character dominates the content of the book as a whole, and these articles left a great impact on the souls of their recipients, who were encouraged to declare their belief in the same ideas contained in them.Among these articles are: "The New Testament," "Istiklal and the Fezz," and "You have your Lebanon, and I have my Lebanon." Gibran also wrote in this book several articles that dealt with notable figures in Arab literature, including: "Ibn Sina and his poem," "Jurji Zaidan," "Al-Ghazali," and "Ibn al-Farid." In an article entitled: "The Future of the Arabic Language," Gibran presents his views on the Arabic language and his perceptions about it. The book also includes fourteen poems.
