Women's Medicine

The contributions to this book ask why indigenous methods of fertility control, often of questionable effectiveness, remain in widespread use in underdeveloped and developing countries. They concentrate on the cultural factors that affect women’s decisions about their own fertility, especially in societies which offer both folk and modern methods.
