Why do nice people finish last?: 20 reasons why being nice isn't always the nicest way to be.

We often hear that nice people finish last. In the short-term, that appears to be true. In the long-term, intelligent niceness may be in everyone's best interest. This work describes 20 reasons why unconscious fear-based niceness as a defense mechanism may not be to nicest way to relate and communicate. Perhaps there is a time to be nice and a time to be not-so-nice.
