Dr. Beck befriends nine-year-old cancer patient, Emily, and her guardian, Tiffany. Out of options for further chemotherapy, her only shot at survival is a costly experimental medication. In an attempt to gather the funds, the three set out on an epic adventure to seek a hidden treasure as they try to save Emily's life. Along the way, Dr. Beck faces his own inner demons with help from his traveling companions and the three grow even closer.

One of the artifacts contained in the treasure chest is an ancient Incan bracelet with magical powers, and a parallel story details the fates of two young Incans and their forbidden love.
