What My Father Taught Me

The theologian C.S. Lewis said, "God loved us into existence." Things are loved into existence too. That's what my mother and father did. Even though they wouldn't consider themselves artists--at least not in the traditional sense--I know that's what they are and what they passed onto me. Because of their vision and tenacity, and because I watched close up as they lost themselves in what they made, I had the chance to figure out what I was supposed to make. This collection of memory poems is the beginning.
