Water Rich describes the struggles of Wisconsin residents to obtain water supplies from prehistoric times to the present. It chronicles advances in water supply technologies, changers in governmental control and the evoliution in the understanding of waterborne diseases, all of which profoundly influenced the development of drinking water supplies. A summary of the state's surface and groundwater resources is provided as a background to explain the often difficult decisions in the selection of water sources.
