Venus in Furs

This is Leopold Von Sacher-Masoch's 1870 novella, "e;Venus in Furs"e;. A man haunted by a disturbing dream of the goddess Venus wearing furs seeks advice from his friend, who recommends that he read a manuscript called "e;Memoirs of a Suprasensual Man"e;. The manuscript tells the tale of a relationship of dominance, submission and, finally, humiliation. Part of his epic series called "e;Legacy of Cain"e;, the story draws from themes of female dominance and sadomasochism, and is heavily based on the authors own life. Leopold Rittervon Sacher-Masoch (1836 - 1895) was an Austrian journalist and writer. He is most famous for his romantic stories of Galician life. Notably, due to the nature of his writing, the word "e;masochism"e; is derived from his name. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive.
