Ultravox: Looking Backwards Towards the Future is the first authorised biography of post-punk mavericks turned  commercial superstars, Ultravox. Written with the knowledge, permission and cooperation of the band's surviving core members, it offers the definitive account of one of Britain's most eccentric, unusual and uncompromising groups.

Formed in London in 1974, Ultravox first made their mark under original frontman John Foxx with stark, futuristic statements such as 'Hiroshima Mon Amour' and 'Slow Motion'. Following Foxx's departure in 1979, the band were reborn with Midge Ure, entering their commercial heyday between 1980 and 1984. During this period, Ultravox became one of Britain's most successful acts, scoring a run of UK Top 10 albums and defining singles, including 'Vienna', 'All Stood Still', and 'Dancing with Tears in My Eyes'.

Drawing on an extensive archive of research materials and new, exclusive interviews with Warren Cann, Billy Currie, John Foxx and Midge Ure, as well as input from collaborators , peers, label figures and management, the book charts the band's turbulent internal dynamics alongside their creative evolution. It explores fractures and fallouts, ambition and ego, addiction and reinvention.
