Twelve Women

Many see women as a complex mystery that is difficult to understand, and some writers have sought to infiltrate her mysterious world, trying to uncover its secrets, as the great writer Youssef Al-Sibai did in this collection of short stories. Al-Sibai presents twelve examples of women who are subjected to experiences that reveal their inner being, contemplating the motivations of his heroines and carefully explaining their psychological struggles. He talks about the jealous woman, the lost woman, the loser, the bereaved woman... and others. However, Al-Sibai admits that he is unable to fully understand women. Rather, he finds himself stumbling and trembling at the look of an eye or the touch of a soft hand, so he confronts the ambiguity by writing and continues trying.
