Transhumance, a seasonal migration of herds between summer pastures in the mountains and winter pastures in the lowlands to exploit seasonal availability of herbage resources is an ecological reality and is 'no option' system of Chauri/Yak-Cattle (the crosses of yak/Bos grunniens and local hilly cow/Bos indicus) herding in Nepalese Himalaya. Wandering being a rule of management, not an exception; most physiobiochemical values and milk composition tend to vary during transhumance as altitude, feed and environment changes in the process so this book attempts to light the seasonal migration effect on routine herding management, different physiological indices and milk composition of Chauri. Descriptive analysis were used to gauze these effects. This book basically talks on different aspects of these peculiar highlanders, their herding management, different physiological parameters and product composition and hope to be especially useful to livestock professionals or anyone interested on these animals.
