But Sir Henry also had a rather obscure brother Philip, who was knighted sometime between March 16 0 5 and April 1609, and this Philip married a certain Elizabeth Bland of Carle ton, Yorks. This lady must then have been the Mistress Elizabeth Cary to whom Mariam is dedicated.
