Toward a Functional Lexicology

In a collection of papers written in English and Spanish, 13 authors from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain demonstrate new approaches to the description of aspects of the lexicon, focusing primarily on verbs, but also dealing with adverbs and nouns. The contributions also explore theoretical and methodological implications and problems arising from a lexical component developed by L. Martin Mingorance and based on and complementing Simon C. Dik's Functional Grammar. Issues related to lexicology/lexicography and semantics as well as cognition, philosophy of language and translation are discussed in this context.
