To have and not to have

In carefully drawn scenes, and with the least amount of words, the events of the novel escalate and its hero, Harry Morgan, does not care about killing, and then becomes killed. Between Harry Morgan killing a Chinese man, throwing his body into the water, and then his own killing on the deck of the same ship at the hands of bank robbers, a tragedy takes place in which love, poverty, greed, revolution, and tragedy are mixed.
