Thomas Schütte has been counted among Germany's best-known contemporary artists since he received the Golden Lion at the 2 5 Venice Biennale, if not longer. Thomas Schütte: Houses II collects architectural work by the artist and is being published on the occasion of his solo exhibition Westkunstmodelle : at the De Pont Museum in Tilburg. Featuring numerous images and construction plans, the book presents 8 projects completed between 2 3 and 2 23 for the first time, along with their construction stories. Schütte's approach is characterized by the use of a : scale to bring his designs to life. By doing so, Schütte turns architecture into an artistic medium, creates new catalysts for large-scale sculpture, and blurs the lines between sculpture, architecture, and concept art.
