The book is both earthy and heavenly. It is earthy as it deals with the pain, upheavals, disappointments, sickness, bereavement, challenges, and humanity that confronts a minister in his call to love and care for his congregation/community as well as his own personal challenges in carrying out the mandate of the gospel; the mandate in caring and shepherding the flock God has placed in his care, but also in fulfilling the Divine Commission to "e;go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature...."e;
