The World Accoding to Julian Assange

November 2010. The world is in uproar as Wikileaks begins releasing top-secret diplomatic cables, in a radical challenge to notions of the state and traditional media, particularly as they are perceived in the United States. As an entirely different account of the last decade begins to take hold, US authorities begin to talk of espionage proceedings against Wikileaks' mercurial leader, and possibly sole member, Julian Assange. A major story becomes epic in its scope and impact. In his initial document theorising Wikileaks, Assange predicted that the organisation's full impact would be world changing. Was he right? Had he planned for maximum confrontation all along? And was the Wikileaks event a genuine historical moment or a mere simulation of one?
