"The Willigee Negroes": Sir William Johnson, Sir Peter Warren and an 18th Century Free Black Community in the Mohawk Valley

This book focuses on the 17th and 18th century history of the Mohawk Valley and discusses the Willigee Flat, Willigee land patent and the mysterious Willigee Negroes mentioned in Sir William Johnson's Papers. It also discusses Sir Peter Warren, Sir William Johnson and their relationship with Blacks in general and specifically the Willigee Negroes. It also includes information on the Phillips, Van Coppernol, Van Olinda and Van Slyck families. The book clearly shows who the Willigee Negroes were not and tentatively concludes who they were, and who they are today.
