The Therapeutic Use of Survivor-Offender Communication: Three Sexual Abuse Intervention Models

Three intervention models for therapeutic communication between sexual abuse offenders and their survivors with safeguards and case examples are described in this book. All three intervention models are consistent with the primary principles of trauma-informed care involving safety, trustworthiness/transparency, choice, collaboration and empowerment. An introduction summary of basic outpatient survivor-offender communication procedures is presented along with potential benefits and guidelines to insure safe, therapeutic interactions. Descriptions of the three intervention models include the treatment philosophy, intervention procedure, case study examples and treatment results with research recommendations.
