The Presbyterian Controversy

In the 1920s and 1930s, the Presbyterian Church in the US was wracked by a bitter theological controversy that mirrored the wider fundamentalist-modernist conflict dividing American society during that period. By examining the lives and thought of six major protagonists of the Presbyterian controversy, this study seeks to provide a fuller understanding of the religious and cultural issues in the struggle.
