All through our lives up until the time we are born-again, our minds have been trained to think in a certain way. The bible calls it carnal thinking. That thinking is in direct opposition to God's laws. Once we are born-again God expects us to discard our carnal thinking, and begin to set our minds on the things of the spirit.
