The Management of Quality and its Control

This text provides an introduction to the management of quality and the application of basic tools used for its control. It aims to bridge the gap between the literature on statistical process and quality control (SPC/SQC) and total quality management (TQM) approach. The book adopts a managerial and modelling approach to the management and control of quality, seeking to integrate quality, and its control, in the basic managerial functions of the firm. This book is divided into three parts: the first part introduces the basic concepts, definitions and the management of total quality; the next section is orientated towards techniques; and the book concludes with a section covering application areas of particular importance in the field of quality management. By integrating "quality control" and "quality management", the book is relevant not only to MBA and business school students, but also to graduate students in industrial engineering, operations research and management science.
