The Lower Lines Brompton Kent

The Lower Lines formed part of the defences of Chatham Dockyard during the early nineteenth century. While never used in combat, they became the focus for siege training during the later in the century, and for the development of new military technologies by the Royal Engineers. This book presents the results of archaeological work undertaken between 2007 and 2009.
