The Indian Question

The Indian Question is a classic American history text by Francis A. Walker concerning Native American rights and citizenship during the 19th Century. On the 3d of March, 1871, Congress declared that "hereafter no Indian nation or tribe within the territory of the United States shall be acknowledged or recognized as an independent nation, tribe, or power, with whom the United States may contract by treaty."
