The Day I Found Our Family In Croatia

The year was 1991 and the Yugoslavian war was in full swing, and I am now just learning because of one question I asked of my father, "What part of the former Yugoslavia was our family from?" Did I find the family, yes, but who, when, and how long did it take me? I was born and raised in Michigan, and was fairly close to all of my family, but sadly, really no one knew much about our family history. My story is one about perseverance, determination, and just a bit of stubbornness to find out, not only for me, but for my children and relatives, exactly who we were. This story is one of love of family, and making sure that the lives before us do not go unnoticed, for they are what make us who we are today.
