After the events of The Vicious Cycle, private cop and former Air Force OSI agent Ronan Marino left Lowell, Massachusetts, hoping to clear his head and figure out why he keeps striking out at love. Two years later, with no real answers and nothing to show for his time away, he comes home-only to land in the middle of the most baffling case of his life.

Millions of dollars in newly discovered comic book artwork have gone missing, and someone just tried to kill the artist's son. With a lineup of suspects that includes an arrogant collector, his dangerously seductive assistant, and a charming but mysterious comic book creator, Ronan finds himself pulled deep into a world of fans, fakes, and felonies.

Now, surrounded by mobsters, cops, and more capes than a Saturday at Comic-Con, Ronan must unravel the truth-and maybe, finally, figure out what's been missing from his own story.
