Little Erane, who lives in a forest with just her sister and grandmother, ventures into a cave one day, against her sister's warnings. Within, she finds a lizard creature-a vestige of a world left ruptured-who entreats her to bring her sister along so it might become human again...Meet the inhabitants of The Colorful Conscience, a collection of eleven short-stories dealing with the pains and pleasures of interpersonal relationships in worlds wracked by apocalypse. The tales are thematically connected and each serves to give testimony in the existential struggle which consumes humanity and often brings it to despair.
