When Zane Carter woke up in his coffin, dead and confused, all he could see were the gaping eyes of a rotting skull in the plot next to him. Goaded by Angela to leave his grave, Zane soon found it was useful to have a guide in the Afterworld, even if Angela had issues with guys, let alone why her father vanished after a lab explosion.

Zane didn't understand why she pestered him to keep moving; there was so much he needed to find out about his death. When they encounter Harry Abaddon, they soon realize that death is something no one alive could ever possibly imagine, because Harry was not the type of devil they expected at all. And his glittering time key was somethign Zane just had to have.

But Abaddon wants more than just to scare the wits out of young spirits, and now Zane and Angela must run. Caught between searching for her father and Zane's concern for his friend Alfred, who is not quite who he seems to be, both risk staying conscious in a dangerous afterlife, where even ghosts can really die.
