Jack Straughan, involuntary hero of The Legacy of Moondyne Joe, is an enigmatic character who was an anarchist and libertarian in the sixties, then a political lobbyist and investor in the seventies and eighties.This is his book of memoirs, written in collaboration with a hack writer, Henry Jones.In a series of recorded interviews, Straughan describes his childhood in Tasmania, his travels around Australia, then the events in his tumultuous life in Sydney.The dark side is his role as an ASIO informer. He is also the supposed author of a set of essays on contemporary Australia, written in the early nineties.
