Tao and Li of The Classic of Filial Piety

As one of the classics of Confucian school, The Classic of Filial Piety is generally recognized to be taught by Confucius and recorded by Mencius. It is the holy book for scholars of the past. In the part, everyone must read The Classic of Filial Piety. Before reading the Five Classics, you must read The Four Books ; before reading The Four Books, you must read The Classic of Filial Piety. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, even royal guards, who were not scholars, should at least read The Classic of Filial Piety because it illustrated the most fundamental principle of being a people.
