The legend of Putai Monk is one of the most famous folk legends in our country. It originated in the late Tang Dynasty and was bred in five generations. It has been widely spread in the Song Dynasty and was widely spread throughout the country after the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Now, in Ningbo, especially Fenghua, the legend of Putai Monk is almost a household name, known to all ages. In all parts of China and overseas, the image of Maitreya in a cloth bag, which is open-mouthed, generous and charitable, is deeply rooted in people's hearts and widely respected. According to legend, Putai Monk was included in the third batch of national intangible cultural heritage protection list in 2011.
