Spiral II for guitar

Tapio Tuomela's (b. 1958) Spiral II for guitar (1996) was written for the guitar virtuoso Timo Korhonen. This revised version was edited in 2024 by Osmo Palmu, who also recorded the seven-minute work for his album Traces of Time.

Tapio Tuomela began his career in a Neo-Classical style but then shifted towards Modernism, with timbre being an important parameter. He is known as a musician-friendly composer. “For the message to be conveyed from the score to the ear of the listener, the musician must understand the work and be motivated by it,” he says.
