Special Education: Perspectives, Opportunities and Challenges

This book contains nine chapters that detail special education. Chapter One discusses meaningful play for children with autism spectrum disorder. Chapter Two's goal is to unravel the extent of teachers' knowledge, expertise, and experience when it comes to identifying and supporting children grappling with anxiety-related disorders. Chapter Three examines the everyday creativity of parents of children with special needs. Chapter Four explores the current research on inclusive practices in early childhood and early childhood special education settings and the contributing factors associated with quality inclusion. Chapter Five addresses applied behavior analysis (ABA). Chapter Six provides an analysis of special education data from the four nations of the United Kingdom. Chapter Seven describes research concerning video models and classroom transitioning. Chapter Eight describes discrete trial training (DTT) and provides suggestions for using DTT among students with intellectual disabilities in the context of data-based individualization. Lastly, Chapter Nine discusses using Facebook to teach social communication skills to students with autism.
