Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. In the rapid survey I propose to make, I will omit whatever can be omitted without loss, and touch only on events the consequences of which were still traceable in the habits and character of the people in the middle of the nineteenth century.
