This book is a collection of essays selected by Mr. Zong Pu himself. In addition to the preface and postscript, there are 107 articles in total and the essays are divided into 9 groups. Essays in Group are written on family and family members; Group II is dedicated written for his father Feng Youlan; Group iii is to recall the memories of contact and friendship with the older generation of intellectuals, such as Wen Yiduo, Zhang Dainian and Chen Daisun; Group IV focuses on the scenic spots and historical sites and renewal of personnel in Yanyuan where the author lived for decades; Group V is the author's beautiful essays on flowers and the beautiful sceneries on a good day in four seasons; Group VI is the author's travel notes of visiting former residences of celebrities around the world; Group VII is the author's reflection on daily life and personal experience; Group VIII is the author's reading experience; Group IX consists of only two essays which are the author's summary of his life-long creation. Mr. Zong Pu was born in Tsinghua Campus and grew up in Kunming during the period of Southwest Associated University. After returning to Beijing, he lived in Yannan Garden for decades. His knowledge fused Chinese and western literature and he made friends with scholars all over the world. His words are implicit and interesting.
