Secret Montenegro is a deeply personal introduction to a country that offers the most spectacular combination of sapphire waters, towering mountains, Byzantine fortresses, and both ancient and contemporary homes. Here, fashion designer Ivana Maksimovic Hasecic takes us on a journey through her beloved homeland in a celebration of the stunning landscapes; marketplaces showcasing stunning traditional crafts, textiles, and embroidery, and much more; medieval monasteries set high in the cliffs; and ancient towns behind 9th-century walls. As we travel around the gorgeous coast, she affords us unprecedented access to some of the oldest domestic interiors in the country as well as chic contemporary homes and artisans' studios. Featuring stunning images by interiors photographer Boz Gagovski, as well as the author's own photographs, we see how traces of the Ottoman Empire remain woven into a country touched by communism and informed by its seafaring past, in what amounts to Hasecic's love letter to her childhood home.
